Vegas Baby!

I scored some tickets to the Piano Guys concert in Las Vegas!
Concert was phenomenal! And we got to spend time with these really great relatives who joined us.

Fremont Street experience was visually splendid.

We stayed at the Golden Nugget, which was like a city of glitz and fun. The water slide going through shark tank was awesome!

It was a quick trip but still so nice to have some time with just the two of us!

Mom's Day

The best thing about ordering your own Mother's Day cake is that you get to tell them what you want it to say.
The next best thing is eating it. Especially because this one was marzipan. I just happened to be in the neighborhood of this specialty bakery and had to indulge.

Cali Girl

I have raised a girl that likes the beach even more than I. Is that possible? Yes. She was willing to endure a long car ride and sleep on the floor, attend a strangers funeral, and help move containers out of a storage unit, all for a short stint at the beach. She would say it was all worth it. She had a great time with her Aunt and cousins.

Can't Catch Me

3 of the girls participated in our local Hershey Track and Field event. It was a cold and rainy morning.  Adrie ran in a relay, the 800 m dash, and the long jump.  Brynn ran the 100 m sprint, and the long jump. Sofie and her track team friends served as volunteers for the event.

Farvel Friends

We hosted our end-of-year party for the exchange students. Due to a heavy downpour we moved it from the park to the church.  It was Adios, Farvel, and Au revoir to this awesome group of exchange students.  I really had a great group this year and combined with their awesome host families I'd say it was golden!

We moms provided loads of brownies, ice cream, and toppings for all exchange students and their families, and all their American friends. The crowds poured in.

Other exchange students from different organizations joined us. They represented BELGIUM, GERMANY, COLOMBIA, BRAZIL, THAILAND, SPAIN, AND DENMARK.  I love being able to bring the world to our little valley.

American friends and exchange students. Friends from all over the world.

Besides the treats, we had volleyball, a DVD slideshow of photos from the year. Thanks to smilebox.com I was able to put one together in an hour before the event:))  As pictured the younger ones found their own mode of fun.

I had originally ordered American flags for each student that their friends could sign. However, after getting the flags, and feeling uncomfortable at the thought of writing on them, I looked it up and sure enough, according the U. S. Flag code it is not permitted to write on a flag (or burn it or stomp on it or put images on it, etc.)  Luckily, the local poster shop was able to find an image on google and print out some custom posters for me. I think that was the highlight for the students. They had fun reading and writing messages from their friends and will be able to take those home and have a great souvenir to hang in their rooms when they return.   I love my job!

Family Night volleyball

We've discovered the lush green grass and sand volleyball court at the local college.
It's our new favorite hangout for family night.
