Too Much of a Good Thing...

What do you do when you are at the table finishing up a great meal that your neighbor has brought you when the doorbell rings. You answer it to find 2 other neighbors smiling with another hot dinner in tow. This happened to us earlier this week. Apparently there were several sign up lists passed around in church. I called Sister RS Pres. about it and she assured me that it was all organized and everything was fine. But then it happened again. It makes us a little nervous about what today will bring. Do we hide dinner #1 and wait (like we did the 2nd time) do we explain? We just don't want anyone to feel bad. Don't get me wrong we are enjoying all this food and freezing the extra...

We took dinner to the neighbors house once and then someone else brought one too. They hid ours in the oven and ate whichever they preferred to that night. I don't know what Miss Manners would say though.

The same thing happened to us---it made me feel guilty, though we did try to use everything eventually. So you gotta be sneaky and either hide the food or hurry and take it from them before they go back to the kitchen and find the bounteous supply you have there and feel bad that you already have two plates of brownies on your counter and they've just brought a third. . .I don't think I'll be making brownies for a loooong time!

On the other hand, I think they still feel the good that comes from doing service, even if you aren't eating theirs right away. The more food the better! It will get eaten!

I wish you could just say, "Please come back in two weeks when I really will need you." Half the fun for my kids was just seeing what different food people brought even if the kids wouldn't eat most of it.
